This eventful November, the Caribbean's welcoming and adventurous waters will once again become the spotlight as one of the most exhilarating sailing events of the year takes place – the St. Barth Cata Cup, 2024 edition is here! From the 21st to the 24th, seasoned sailors and rising stars alike will gather on the very shores of sunny St. Barts, ready to navigate the island’s challenging courses and tame the unpredictable winds. With the buzzing energy of what’s to come taking over, let’s sail ahead and prepare to have an absolute blast!
The Tradition of Competition
Known for its unique long-distance race format and festive atmosphere, the St. Barth Cata Cup is more than just a regatta—it’s a celebration of sportsmanship, determination, and the vibrant culture of our beloved island. Now in its 16th edition, the Cata Cup has established itself as a premier event in the international sailing calendar. This year, the competition promises to be as thrilling as ever, with over 50 teams vying for victory, including none other than Pablo Völker and Federico Polimeni, the winning Spanish sailors who got on top of the podium at the Formula 18 World Championships last July, and the reigning champions themselves: Ravi Parent and Nicholas Lovisa. Fresh from their impressive win in 2023, the American duo aims to defend their title against a formidable lineup of contenders, as well as a course to test even the sturdiest man’s will. The Cata Cup’s demanding courses, which weave around the island’s natural markers, provide a true test of endurance and skill. Teams must navigate the technical challenges of the waters all around, where shifting winds and unexpected obstacles make every race unpredictable. For returning competitors as well as those joining for the first time the event is both a thrilling challenge and a cherished tradition of sailing in St. Barts.
